Fees

My fee structure is best defined as a Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) model of service. Rather than a sliding scale that is based off your income, the PWYC model lets you take into consideration your own financial situation and set a fee that is reasonable for your life circumstances. While this results in individuals paying different amounts for therapy, it’s important to know that regardless of the amount that you pay, I provide the same level of service for all of my clients. To help you think through what fee makes the most sense for your situation try answering the question “What can I reasonably afford to pay per session if we were to meet weekly?”

Individual Therapy

Standard Fee:

My standard fee is $225 an hour. This is for those who have expendable income, receive a significant portion back from their insurance out of network benefits, or have room in their budget to pay for therapy.

Mid-Range Reduced Fee:

This range is for those who are able to meet their basic needs but have little to no expendable income. I am able to reduce the hourly fee to between $150-$220, with you choosing the amount that makes the most sense for your financial situation. Paying for services at this mid-range rate may qualify as a sacrifice but should not create a significant financial hardship for you.

Low Fee:

The low fee rates are for those who struggle to meet basic needs and paying for therapy at the above amounts would result in significant hardship. While I do not always have openings in this range, I do my best to accommodate people when I can.

Relationship Therapy (also known as Couples Therapy):

My standard fee for Relationship Therapy is $225 a therapy hour (typically 45-53 minutes). Relationship Therapy appointments can be scheduled in the following time/pay increments:

  • 1 hour (50-55 minutes): $225
  • 75 minutes: $275
  • 90 minutes: $325

The amount of time that is needed for relationship therapy varies based on the issues and concerns that are being navigated. I prefer that we schedule a 90 minute appointment for our initial session so that there is time to explore your relationship history and start working on your current issues and concerns. I do not typically reduce the fee of my relationship appointments, however if you are in need of a reduced fee please reach out and we can discuss potential options.

Abbreviated Psychological Assessments (adults only):

Assessments are between $800-$1500 for adult ADHD and adult Autism assessments. Please reach out for details if this is something that you are interested in so that we can discuss options. I do not currently have any openings for assessments at this time.

Superbills for Insurance Reimbursement

While I don’t accept insurance, your insurance plan may have out of network benefits, which means that they may reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. For those with out of network benefits who don’t want the hassle of submitting for reimbursement on their own, I use a service named Thrizer which handles the out of network reimbursement process automatically for you.

The electronic record keeping system that I use can send you a superbill each month that includes your sessions for the month, the location of your sessions (telehealth or in-person), the ICD-10 diagnostic code for any diagnoses I have provided, and the amount that you have paid. It is your choice if you want to submit this to your insurance company or just keep this information for your records. There are two benefits to submitting superbills for reimbursement:

  • The amount you are paying for therapy goes toward your deductible and if you have additional medical bills outside of therapy, this may reduce your overall out of pocket payment for the year.
  • Your insurance company may reimburse you for part of what you pay for sessions once your deductible has been met (the amount reimbursed varies by company and plan).

My Ongoing Commitment to You

As part of my ongoing commitment to providing quality care to all my clients, I consistently evaluate and refine the services and support I offer. Central to this commitment is ensuring that the value I provide aligns with the evolving needs and circumstances of those I serve while also making certain that I can continue to invest in accessing resources, training, and tools that enhance the quality and depth of care that I provide. By ensuring that my fee structure is in line with current realities, I aim to maintain a sustainable and effective practice, always prioritizing the well-being and satisfaction of my clients. While I periodically raise my rate to be inline with current inflation rates, I typically will not raise the rate we’ve agreed upon unless you have been seeing me for more than a year and are not at my standard fee level. Any fee adjustments that occur are done with mutual agreement to make certain that you are still able to afford receiving therapy services with me.
